Course content

The course has a strong practical basis incorporating several practical exercises. The course lasts 3-6 hours and gives participants the chance to conduct an assessment under the supervision of the trainer. Key elements of the course are:

  • Introduction to ergonomics
  • An introduction to The Health and Safety [Display Screen Equipment] Regulations 1992 (as amended 2002)
  • Visual problems - causes and solutions
  • Musculoskeletal problems - causes and solutions
  • Environmental problems - causes and solutions
  • An introduction to workstation assessments
  • Practical workstation assessment procedures
  • Conduct workstation assessment and discuss results
  • Review and action planning procedures
Course information

This course is accredited by the Ergonomics Society Level 2. At the end of the course, the participants' understanding of the course material will be evaluated by means of a two part assessment

  • a written assessment, based on multiple-choice questions
  • a practical work-based project carried out after the course
